Lunch with Jake

Not sure if you remember one of my favorite kindergarten students from Little Brown, Jake, but we met up with him, his mom and Elly (his aunt and our old coworker). We had a late lunch on Sunday and it was great to see them but I definitely felt a little weepy after it was over. It's quite possible I will never see them again. Leaving Korea is hitting me bit by bit.

Anyway, we had a delicious lunch filled with noodles and Jake is just as hyper and funny as always. His English is excellent! I'm so impressed and proud of him. Not only is his pronunciation great, but he also consistently uses articles and full sentences. We got him a present (a stuffed toy and an English book) and he really liked both. Actually when we were at the book store we deliberated for ages on what to buy. We chose something age appropriate but as it turns out- he can read in English and could easily read the book. Since it's age appropriate it's still okay though and he wasn't bored with it so that's good.

It was great catching up with Elly and after lunch we had some coffee and dessert. We ended up ordering 2 pieces of tiramisu because Jake was devouring it! He probably ate 1.5 by himself. Then he proceeded to mix all the leftover beverages together in one cup to make some sort of concoction. His Mom doesn't know a lot of English but she was saying "one shot" to Matt. Hahah. Jokingly of course. It was also funny that Elly and I seemed to be dressed as mirror images. I hope they stay in touch. We told Elly that someday when Jake is older if they are interested in having him study in Canada to contact us. We didn't take as many pictures as I'd hoped but here are the ones we did get. I'm so proud of Jake and how smart he is!!!

Jake is so cute! i love how his shirt says "Curly Sue" on the front, hehe.
I remember the thrill of mixing beverages together as a kid & trying to get adults to drink the brown sludge... ;)
